WELCOME to the Bloomfield Volunteer Emergency Squad’s website. Since 1961 we
have been a volunteer ambulance service operating in the Township of Bloomfield in
Essex County, New Jersey. For the last 50 years the Bloomfield Volunteer Emergency
Squad has been providing free emergency medical services to the citizens of our town.
We are a licensed ambulance service provider in the State of New Jersey and all of our
members are certified emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Your generous donations
are used to purchase disposable medical supplies, purchase/maintain our three
ambulances, purchase/repair equipment, and maintain our headquarters in top-notch
condition.

THE Bloomfield Volunteer Emergency Squad - Paid Division, employs four full-time and
several per diem professional EMTs who provide daytime coverage from 6:00 AM to 6:00
PM seven days a week, Wednesday night from 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM and Sunday night from
6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. This paid division of our Squad is here to offer the same services
handled by the volunteers who work weekday nights, Saturday night, and major holidays.
They utilize our vehicles and equipment to assist us in providing continuous coverage for
Bloomfield citizens 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
THIS paid division is funded through third party insurance billing and does not get
subsidized through the use of your generous donations. No citizen of Bloomfield will
ever receive a bill for the services that we provide. High quality, expert care is always
our first priority regardless of your personal insurance situation.
