WELCOME to the Bloomfield Volunteer Emergency Squad’s website. Since 1961 we
have been a volunteer ambulance service operating in the Township of Bloomfield in
Essex County, New Jersey. For the last 46 years the Bloomfield Volunteer Emergency
Squad has been providing free emergency medical services to the citizens of our town.
We are a licensed ambulance service provider in the State of New Jersey and all of our
members are certified emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Your generous donations
are used to purchase disposable medical supplies and maintain our three ambulances,
equipment, and headquarters in top-notch condition.

THE Bloomfield Volunteer Emergency Squad employs four full-time professional EMTs
who work during the hours of 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday. This paid division
of our squad is here to offer the same services handled by the volunteers who work
weekday nights, weekends, and holidays. They utilize our vehicles and equipment to
assist us in providing continuous coverage for Bloomfield citizens 24 hours a day, 365
days a year.
THIS paid division is funded through third party insurance billing and does not get
subsidized through the use of your generous donations. No citizen will ever receive a
bill for the services that we provide. High quality, expert care is always our first priority
regardless of your personal insurance situation.
